Samuelle & Val

In 1986, after Timex Social Club released “Rumors,” a faction formed Club Nouveau, debuting with “Jealousy” and introducing Samuelle Prater and Val Watson. These Bay Area natives, produced by Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, became the signature voices of 80’s R&B.

Samuelle and Val are the original vocalists on hits like “Jealousy,” “Situation #9,” “Why You Treat Me So Bad,” and their Grammy-winning cover of “Lean On Me.” Both have successful solo projects: Samuelle’s “Living in Black Paradise” and Val’s “Urbal.”

Now you know their names: "Samuelle and Val"
